Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) - Provides emergency and safety communications and disseminates Maritime Safety Information (MSI) to all ships on the world's oceans regardless of location or atmospheric conditions. MSI includes navigational warnings, meteorological warnings and forecasts, and other urgent safety related information. The National Weather Service participates directly in the GMDSS by preparing meteorological forecasts and warnings for broadcast via NAVTEX and SafetyNET.
INMARSAT-C SafetyNET - An internationally adopted, automated satellite system for promulgating weather forecasts and warnings, marine navigational warnings and other safety related information to all types of vessels and is part of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). There are no user fees associated with receiving SafetyNET broadcasts.

It was developed to provide a low-cost, simple, and automated means of receiving this information aboard ships at sea within approximately 200 nautical miles of shore. NAVTEX stations in the U.S. are operated by the U.S. Coast Guard. There are no user fees associated with receiving NAVTEX broadcasts.
NOAAWatch - A Web portal offering information about ongoing environmental events, and explains the role of NOAA in prediction, monitoring, and recovery from environmental hazards. It provides public access to current information on a number of environmental threats ranging from oil spills, to hurricanes and tsunamis, to space weather. Provides information about severe weather warnings across the US mainland and coastline. You can access the latest satellite imagery, storm, hydrometeorological and climate prediction centres.
Ocean Prediction Center - Component of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) whose responsibility is the issuance of marine warnings, forecasts, and guidance in text and graphical format for maritime users.
Storm Prediction Center (SPC) - Part of the National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). SPC provides timely and accurate forecasts and watches for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes over the contiguous U.S.
Tides & Currents (CO-OPS) - The Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) collects, analyzes and distributes historical and real-time observations and predictions of water levels, coastal currents and other meteorological and oceanographic data.
Tide Tables - NOAA tide station data and graphs. Predictions of the oceans tides along United States coastal shores, rivers and harbors. Usually listed are tide peak times and levels and current direction, speed and strength. Sunrises, sunsets, moonrises, moonsets and moonphases are often included along with expected tidal data.
