National Popular Vote -
The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in the entire United States. The bill preserves the Electoral College, while ensuring that every vote in every state will matter in every presidential election. The National Popular Vote law has been enacted by states possessing 132 electoral votes — 49% of the 270 electoral votes needed to activate it.
National Voting Rights Institute (NVRI) - Goals include: 1) Pass and successfully defend reforms that limit campaign spending in local, statewide and national elections; 2) strengthen, defend and protect political participation against threats at the state and local level; 3) affirm and support constitutional protection of the right to vote; 4) obtain public funding for local, state and federal elections.
Prisoners of the Census - The Census Bureau counts prisoners as if they lived voluntarily in the communities where they are incarcerated. And though most states bar prisoners from voting, the inaccurate census figures allow state lawmakers to pad district populations when drawing legislative maps. This creates prison districts with disproportionate voting power and drains political influence from the urban districts where most prisoners live.

Revolving Door -
Although the influence powerhouses that line Washington's K Street are just a few miles from the U.S. Capitol building, the most direct path between the two doesn't necessarily involve public transportation. Instead, it's through a door—a revolving door that shuffles former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists just as the door pulls former hired guns into government careers. While officials in the executive branch, Congress and senior congressional staffers spin in and out of the private and public sectors, so too does privilege, power, access and, of course, money.
Revolving Door: Former Members of the 111th Congress - Each election, members of Congress are defeated in their bid for re-election or choose to voluntarily leave office.
