Indonesia Human Rights Network (IHRN) - A U.S.-based grassroots organization working to educate and activate the American public and influence U.S. foreign policy and international economic interests to support democracy, demilitarization, and justice through accountability and rule of law in Indonesia. IHRN seeks to end armed forces repression in Indonesia by exposing it to international scrutiny. IHRN works with and advocates on behalf of people throughout the Indonesian archipelago to strengthen civil society.
Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) - Monitors, observes and analyses the political transformation in South Africa with a specific focus on the process of reconciliation and nation-building. Supports and facilitates the process of reconciliation and social transformation by understanding the perspectives of victims, perpetrators and beneficiaries. Promotes cooperation and dialogue with other countries in transition, especially elsewhere in Africa.
Institute for Southern Studies (ISS) -
The Institute has maintained a strong commitment to developing research and publication projects that directly support grassroots organizing, especially efforts for corporate and government accountability. It has helped launch such organizations as the Brown Lung Association, Southerners for Economic Justice, the Georgia Power Project, and the Gulf Tenants Leadership Development Project. The Institute has also examined the southern contribution to culture and social change, from gospel music and the blues to the civil rights movement and community organizing.
Since 1973, the Institute's journal, Southern Exposure, has gained critical praise for its thorough investigations, unsentimental portraits of Southern life, and resources for change. From its first issue on the military in the South through its book-length issue on the Klan, economic development, the nuclear industry, and regional theater, the magazine has remained in high demand among organizers and trainers.
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) - One of two bodies in the inter-American system for the promotion and protection of human rights. The Commission has its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The other human rights body is the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, which is located in San José, Costa Rica. The IACHR is an autonomous organ of the Organization of American States (OAS).
International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights - Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by UN General Assembly resolution 2200 A (XXI) of 16 December 1966. Entry into Force: 3 January 1976, in accordance with article 27.
International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) - FIDH's mandate is to act effectively and practically to ensure the respect of all the rights laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: the civil and political rights, but also the economic, social and cultural rights. FIDH was set up in 1922. It is now a federation of 116 human rights organisations in nearly 100 countries. It co-ordinates and supports their activities and provides them with a voice at the international level.
International Human Law Research Initiative - International Humanitarian Law (IHL) holds as its most fundamental principle that the parties to a conflict do not have an unlimited choice of means or methods of warfare. IHL is also known as the law of war or the law of armed conflict. IHLRI seeks to develop new strategies to address challenges to the protection of civilians and persons "hors de combat" in conflict situations, particularly in view of the increasing targeting of civilians, the evolution of current methods of warfare, and the fragmentation of states in conflict areas.

International Religious Liberty Association (IRLA) - Defends the civil right of all people to worship or not to worship, to adopt a religion or belief of their choice, to manifest their religious convictions in observance, promulgation, and teaching, subject only to the respect for the equivalent rights of others; supports the right of religious organizations to operate freely in every country by their establishing and owning charitable or educational institutions; organizes local, regional, and national chapters as well as seminars, and congresses.
International Women Peace Service-Palestine - An international team of 16 women based in Hares, a village in the Salfit Governate of Palestine's West Bank. The IWPS-Palestine provides written and photographic documentation of human rights abuses in the Salfit and work with independent media and outside press to highlight human rights abuses.
Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO)/Pastors for Peace - IFCO/Pastors for Peace is a special ministry of the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization, created in 1988 to pioneer the delivery of humanitarian aid to Latin America and the Carribean. Since then, many thousands of people have participated in 33 caravans to Mexico and Central America, and 11 to Cuba.
International League for Human Rights (ILHR) - The League's special mission for 60 years has been defending individual human rights advocates who have risked their lives to promote the ideals of a just and civil society in their homelands.
Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) - The public and legal advocacy arm of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism. The Center's mission is to advance religious freedom and pluralism, tolerance, social justice and civil liberties in Israel, based on the belief that these values are intrinsic to and stem from a liberal understanding of Judaism.
Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) - A non-violent, direct-action group originally established to oppose and resist Israeli demolition of Palestinian houses in the Occupied Territories. As activists gained direct knowledge of the brutalities of the Occupation, ICAHD expanded its resistance activities to other areas - land expropriation, settlement expansion, by-pass road construction, policies of "closure" and "separation," the wholesale uprooting of fruit and olive trees and more.
Jack Rabin Collection on Alabama Civil Rights and Southern Activists - Some of its components, including copies of records of the Montgomery Improvements Association (MIA) and many hours of oral history of the renowned cival liberties lawyer Clifford Durr, complement major holdings in other American archives. Other components of the Rabin Collection are unique. These include an updated filmed interview of Stokely Carmichael (later known as Kwame Ture) in Montgomery; 450 black-and-white photographs created by the Subversive Unit of the Investigative and Identification Division of the Alabama Department of Public Safety in the course of sit-ins, demonstrations, and marches in several Alabama cities during the early to mid-1960s; and surveillance tapes preserving speeches made variously at an anniversary meeting of the MIA in 1963, at the conclusion of the Selma-to-Montgomery March in 1965, and in Bessemer and Birmingham, Alabama, in the course of the Poor People's Campaign of 1968. Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy are among many leading lights of the civil rights movement heard on these tapes.

King Center - Established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, The King Center is the official, living memorial dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., leader of America's nonviolent movement for justice, equality and peace in the 1950s and 60s.

Memorial - A movement which arose in the years of perestroika. Its main task was the awakening and preservation of the societal memory of the severe political persecution in the recent past of the Soviet Union. Memorial is information about the violation of human rights on the territory of the former Soviet Union. This information is valued highly not only by international human rights organizations, but also by international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Memorial is the undertaking of risky observation missions to "hot spots" on the territory of the CIS. Memorial is mountains of factual material, collected in regions of armed conflict. It is painstaking verification and analysis of the collected material, and the preparation and publication of reports on the conditions in Nagorno-Karabakh, Tajikistan, Transdnistria, in the zone of Ossetian-Ingushetian conflict, and, finally, in Chechnya. Memorial is the initiator for the formation of an anti-war front, memorably uniting more than 100 social and political organizations in January 1995. Memorial is an organization for social and legal counseling for refugees and displaced persons in many regions of Russia. It is the collection of information about current political prisoners on the territory of the former Soviet Union. It is an ongoing struggle against ethnic discrimination. Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute Archives - Includes the best legal briefs, transcripts, and motions in cases reported in the civil liberties docket since 1955. For the law profession, these materials have served as a major resource for lawyers involved in civil liberties cases anywhere in the United States.
The Archives, originally a component of the Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Library, builds upon the pioneering work of attorney and civil rights activist Ann Fagan Ginger who conceived of an organization to foster effective, innovative legal research, writing, and courtroom strategies to be shared among all lawyers and clients in the constitutional law fields of civil liberties, due process, and civil rights. In 1964 she described her idea to the great civil libertarian Alexander Meiklejohn, who gave his permission for the use of his name.

Murder Victims' Families for Reconciliation (MVFR) - A national organization of family members of both homicide and state killings who oppose the death penalty in all cases. Our mission is to abolish the death penalty. It advocates programs and policies that reduce the rate of homicide and promote crime prevention and alternatives to violence and supports programs that address the needs of victims, helping them to rebuild their lives.
National Action Network (NAN) - Founded in 1991 by Rev. Al Sharpton. A civil rights organization whose mission is to be the voice of empowerment for the disenfranchised throughout America.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) - The oldest and largest civil rights organization in the U.S., whose legacy includes the work of pioneers such as W.E.B DuBois, Thurgood Marshall and Roy Wilkens. From investigations of mob brutality, protests of mass murders, segregation and discrimination, to testimony before congressional committees on tactics used to bar African Americans from the ballot box, the tenacity of NAACP members has saved lives and changed many negative aspects of American society.

NYC Surveillance Camera Project - A small but dedicated group of New York Civil Liberties Union volunteers walked the streets of Manhattan in search of video surveillance cameras. This group sought out every camera, public or private, which records people in public space. From the records they made of the camera locations, the volunteers produced a comprehensive map of all 2,397 surveillance cameras in Manhattan. Clearly, video surveillance cameras have arrived on the streets of New York City.
Online Policy Group (OPG) - Dedicated to online policy research, outreach, and action on issues such as access, privacy, digital defamation, and the digital divide. Additionally, it focuses on Internet participants' civil liberties and human rights, like access, privacy, safety, and serving schools, libraries, disabled, elderly, youth, women, and sexual, gender, and ethnic minorities.

Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group (PHRMG) - Founded in in December 1996 in response to the deteriorating state of democracy and human rights under the newly established Palestinian Authority. The PHRMG documents human rights violations committed against Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, regardless of who is responsible. In effect, the PHRMG has dedicated much of its work to the monitoring of human rights violations committed by the Palestinian Authority.
Palestinian Indpendent Commission for Citizens' Rights (PICCR) - Founded in 1994, following a decree by Yasser Arafat, to serve as a human rights ombudsman. Its mandate is concentrated on ensuring respect for citizens' rights in Palestine through constantly striving to uphold respect for the rule of law by all official bodies.

Pat Finucane Centre for Human Rights and Social Change (PFC) - The PFC is named in memory of Pat Finucane, a human rights lawyer from Belfast who was murdered in front of his wife and children on 12 February 1989 by the pro-British UDA. Finucane had successfully challenged the British Government over several important human rights cases. One of those involved in his murder, Brian Nelson, was working for the Force Research Unit an undercover unit of British Military Intelligence.

Project on Extrajudicial Executions - Provides information about Professor Philip Alston’s work during his mandate as United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions (August 2004—July 2010). Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI) - In September 1999, in response to PCATI's petition, nine justices of the Israeli High Court ruled to absolutely prohibit the use of torture during interrogation. The PCATI, an independent human rights organization founded in 1990, monitors the implementation of this ruling in detention centers and continues the struggle against the use of torture in interrogation in Israel and the Palestinian Authority through legal means, support of relevant legislation and through an information campaign aimed at raising public awareness of the subject.
Quixote Center - A non-profit justice and peace organization whose mission is to work for structural change in church and society, tracing its roots to the Gospel and the Catholic social justice tradition.
Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) - RHR was founded in 1988, in response to serious abuses of human rights by the Israeli military authorities in the suppression of the Intifada. The indifference of much of the country's religious leadership and religiously identified citizenry to the suffering of innocent people seen as the enemy is a cause of concern to RHR's organizers. Both the religious and the non-religious sectors of the public need to be reminded that Judaism has another face. War and International Humanitarian Law - International humanitarian law is the body of rules which, in wartime, protects people who are not or are no longer participating in the hostilities. Its central purpose is to limit and prevent human suffering in times of armed conflict. The rules are to be observed not only by governments and their armed forces, but also by armed opposition groups and any other parties to a conflict.
