Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) - Unlike many similar organizations which are supported largely by corporate membership, the CMA's voting membership is comprised only of individuals. From bunker brokers and tug-boat operators to lawyers and underwriters, to ship owners, brokers and managers, shippers and merchants of all kinds of cargo, each CMA member has an equal and separate vote. Council of American Master Mariners, Inc. International Maritime Bureau (IMB) - International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) anti-crime bureau. Maritime Cabotage Task Force (MCTF) - A coalition of companies joined together in support of the U.S. domestic marine shipping industry. Specifically, the coalition is working to preserve cabotage laws, otherwise known as the Jones Act. This body of law governs the shipment of goods and services between any two domestic ports in the U.S.
Maritime Law Association of the U.S. (MLA) - The MLA now has some 3,455 members. Of these, 3,201 are lawyers involved in maritime matters, including approximately 225 judges and law professors. The rest of the membership consists of non-lawyers who are selected because they hold responsible positions in the maritime field and have rendered distinguished service in the advancement of maritime law or its administration.

Maritime Security Council (MSC) - A member-driven organization that works closely with United States and other government agencies concerned with commercial vessel security. National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMSGlobal) - An international society of approximately 400 marine surveying professionals. From recreational boats to commercial ships, NAMS members survey new and used vessels to determine condition and value; survey cargo, machinery, docks and wharfs, marinas and handling equipment related to the marine industry; and investigate marine claims and act as expert witnesses.
National Association of Scuba Diving Schools (NASDS) - With other certification agencies and the American National Standards Institute, the NASDS has put in place minimum course standards for the sport diving industry.
National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) - The NITL is the oldest and largest organization in the U.S. representing transportation policy interests of shippers. Any company which ships or receives freight via railroads, trucks, ships, airplanes, barges, or any other mode is eligible to be a League member.
National Marine Bankers Association (NMBA)/MarineBankers.org - Created in February 1980 to respond to the need of additional and consistent sources of marine financing within the entire marine industry. Founded in 1932 as the National Group of Seamen’s Agencies, it was renamed NAMMA in 1991. North American Shippers Association, Inc. (NASA) - Negotiates service contracts with the steamship lines and conferences for reduced rates on ocean freight for full container loads of beer, wines and spirits and mineral water in various trade lanes.
Northwest Longshore Administrators Association (NWLAA) - Promotes conservative administration of workers compensation under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act. Provides opportunities for members to discuss the many questions arising under workers' compensation laws, and trends in the law affecting the processing of maritime claims.
Pacific Maritime Association - Negotiates and administers maritime labor agreements with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU).
Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA) - Operates offices in San Francisco, Long Beach and Seattle and represents owners and operators of marine terminals and U.S. and foreign vessels operating throughout the world. On behalf of its members, PMSA is engaged in community affairs, and legislative and regulatory processes in California and Washington state. PMSA also provides members with an array of information services, including regular updates on matters of interest to the shipping industry and serves as a clearinghouse for environmental practices across the industry.
Personal Watercraft Industry Association - PWIA promotes the safe and responsible operation of personal watercraft - Jet Skis, Waverunners, Sea Doos, water scooters and waterbikes. PWIA works with federal, state and local agencies that have regulatory responsibilities for recreational boating, including personal watercraft. PierPASS - A not-for-profit company created by marine terminal operators at the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports to address multi-terminal issues such as congestion, security and air quality. OffPeak is the off peak hours program created by PierPASS. OffPeak provides an incentive for cargo owners to move cargo at night and on weekends, in order to reduce truck traffic and pollution during peak daytime traffic hours and to alleviate port congestion.

Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) - An organization of professional marine surveyors who have come together to promote the good image and general well being of their chosen profession. Accredited Marine Surveyors members are surveyors who have accumulated time in the profession, and have proven the technical skills necessary for designation as A.M.S.
Society of International Gas Tankers and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO) - The Society is the international body established for the exchange of technical information and experience, between members of the industry, to enhance the safety and operational reliability of gas tankers and terminals.
Society of Maritime Arbitrators, Inc. (SMA) - In order to assist the maritime industry in the resolution of disputes and in the selection of qualified arbitrators, the SMA publishes a roster of its approximately 130 members. The roster contains a brief description of the general background and expertise of each member. Members of the SMA are commercial people, recognized as leaders in their respective sectors of the industry, who have held a responsible commercial position for at least ten years. Members are surveyors, engineers, brokers, stevedores, shipbuilders, insurers, terminal operators, vessel operators, claims managers, agents, vessel owners, P and I Club representatives and chartering managers.
