International Convention on Arrest of Ships 1999 - Adopted by the United Nations/ International Maritime Organization Diplomatic Conference on Arrest of Ships on 12th March 1999. The Convention aims at providing a widely acceptable legal instrument promoting international trade and transport, by striking a balance between the interests of the owners of cargo and of ships in securing the free movement of ships and the right of the claimant to obtain security for his claim.
Multilaterals Project - An ongoing project at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts to make available the texts of international multilateral conventions and other instruments. Although the project was initiated to improve public access to environmental agreements, the collection today also includes treaties in the fields of human rights, commerce and trade, laws of war and arms control, and other areas, including Marine and Coastal.
